Syriana!

The Oscars beat me.
Syriana.Just one word for the movie …Brilliant!
The movie revolved around the energy crisis the world is facing today. The director did an amazing job of portraying how vested interests are exploiting the chaos in the Middle East for their own benefit. A gripping plot, crisp editing, decent performances and above all very realistic movie!
Compare this to the winner Crash…Very delicate and relevant subject racism. Agreed that the film subtly depicts racism in its various forms, but the movie didn’t really get me thinking. It was just a few incidents put together. Definitely did not deserve the honour of the best movie

haven't seen syriana...

saw crash...and quite contrarily...it did get me thinking...and how it applies even in the Indian context...especially the fact that prejudices may not surface...but deep down you are still afraid of a certain myth that has been perpetuated...

Righto Saumya..
Crash dealt with the topic very subtly and i feel even though the concept was handled well in parts it dint have this completeness (as in all the facets werent addressed) you'd expect from the movie, where as syriana.. dealt with all the facets of the energy racket.. Iran, terrorism, the US's interests in maintaining political chaos in the middle east, corprate crimes, CIA and their hapless agents... So i guess syriana takes the cake atleast for me.. :)

Hmm...but I still stand by Syriana as a movie which has made an impact....but I said earlier Crash was great in terms subtly giving us a slice of life!
